On the 27th of June with support from the Impact Volunteering Team, the Mornington Railway (MRPS) hosted students from the Frankston High School for a volunteer works day as part of the "Megaweek," included was a brief introduction to Mornington Railway and the benefits of volunteering to the community.
The students and a handful of volunteers from MRPS coordinated the cleanup of an area backing onto houses along the Baxter to Mornington Railway corridor, in the past these works have been delayed due to available volunteer resources.
Students assisted picking up rubbish and wood, much of which had been illegally dumped on the railway corridor, creating a potential fire risk and an eyesore to the public, this event has taken some of the burden of our active volunteers. Students also assisted in painting the platform face, this task included the removal of graffiti, near to where two schools and the busy Bungower Rd are located.
The MRPS hopes to continue to build on this experience and continue to develop programs which assists the Mornington Park / Tanti area. In the future we hope to develop our societies facilities to host more regular programs such as these.
The MRPS would like to thank the students and those involved for assisting in this project which has significantly improved the visual impact on our community! ... See MoreSee Less
